Wildcebo Effect

On March 8th, we had one of my favorite wildcats, Jarne Harris, come to explain the placebo effect to us as a demo run of her final biomedical project. The placebo effect is something that medically has no power to change your life, but mentally if you believe that is one thing, it will act as that thing. This is used to see if a drug is effective; however, we used this to test water brands. Packaging can also cause some sort of a placebo effect, as better packaging can lead to a better experience. The test we did was to see which water was buji or not. I guess which water was the most expensive but mixed up the other two. We also learned about the nocebo effect, which causes negative effects to occur if you believe they will. That was the most interesting part, so thanks to Jarne for coming to explain.
