Day four of trauma week had to have been my favorite. On this day we gt to meet with an actual defense attorney and prosecutor in order to look into the Case of Paul Nease. To my gratefulness, I worked with the black defense attorney Marcus Foxx, which stereotypically my mother knew. My group going into today was pretty sold on the idea that Mr. Nease killed his wife, but as we were working with Mr. Foxx we slowly realized a different picture. While several pieces of evidence were incriminating such as the wife’s thought that her husband would kill her eventually and his shopping for a new gun, the main piece of evidence was the text messages. Through the text, we learned that his wife had some sort of mental illness for which she had stopped taking her medicine. Once we came to this conclusion our mentality began to shift; however, I didn’t get to witness the climax of this shift because I went to go be interviewed by WKRG about my experience Tuesday with Sergeant Grantham and Estie. This was really fun because one I got to see Estie again and two it showed how really impressive it is that our school can set all of this up, and three half the black people that I normally run into haven’t stopped talking about. That ranges from people that got to my church to the Satsuma golf coach. So yeah that was definitely the best day. Kallie Ott also did an interview as well.
