The 9/11 through 9/15 week of Biomed was one of the most enjoyable ones of this year. We had two scrub days this week because we were taking pictures of our classmates for our patient position presentation. This presentation was to help us advance our understanding of different surgical positions such as: Supine, Prone Semi Fowlers, Fowlers, High Fowlers, Trendelenberg, Reverse Trendelenberg, Sims (Lateral Recumbent), Side-lying, Dorsal Recumbent, Lithotomy, Knee to Chest, Sitting / Seated, Seated leaning forward, Tripod, Standing / Standing while leaning on the bed. We had to take pictures of ourselves doing the position on the school hospital bed, so we also spent time learning how that worked. Sadly writing it down I can’t really describe how much fun I had taking this pictures.
This week we started our flashcards for our big boy 25-page paper, but the most important thing we did was update our Wix website. Mine now includes some more modern pictures and a space for my future mentor. When I was going through my old awards and achievements page, that I wrote in the 9th grade I saw that I had written down, “Numerous 1st and 3rd place golf trophies.” This was very funny to me how much I’ve grown in being able to market myself now, versus back then.
