This blog is busy because it's been a while and I’ve been busy. In biomed class, we have been doing a number of things which has caused me to learn a number of things. Number 1, I’m not good at makeup. In class, we did moulage makeup depicting certain injuries for our upcoming mass casualty drill, with South Alabama. I don’t quite know what I am missing I know it’s not the amount of makeup because it doesn’t take that much makeup to make a difference. The more I did it the more it seemed like having an understanding of the end goal when you start. In class, we were practicing making a bruise so we mixed red, black, and pink to try and make the right effect.
We also did a pancake lab partnered with my AP Chemistry teacher. This lab was a competition to see who could bake the highest-standing pancakes, and of course, the senior class wondered. The tactics we used definitely weren't sweet in fact they were quite boring tasting. We made pancakes but without any sugar or sweet ingredients, so we ended up with a pancake-shaped biscuit. A winner is a winner though, and those extra bonus points in chemistry are always appreciated.
For the Capstone project, I’ve continued to develop my paper, and I really like my topic. I feel as though I do have a very vast amount of information to call upon in the paper so finding enough space for the 25 pages isn’t necessarily my issue instead it’s the style. This is only my second APA-style paper, my first one was a group project from a summer pre-college program, but formatting that paper was not my job so this is essentially my first one. When it comes to radiology there are several sub-categories of subjects like different procedures that go along with specific technologies and figuring out when to go into a different level heading or just continuing the train of thought can prove to be a little bit challenging, but I’m confident in the end everything will come together with a great flow.
Personally, I’ve gone on some college visits recently one of those being to Morehouse College. At Morehouse, I made such good connections the first visit I got invited back for an Office of Health Professions Alumni Brunch. I got to hear current med school students speak about their experience and their lives up to that point, one person even being an ex-convict so that was pretty cool. I also got offered to a summer Pre-College Program that was only available to 15 applicants before I even applied, so that was pretty amazing. Then after leaving Atlanta, we flew to Washington D.C. to visit Howard University. I definitely got a bit of a better vibe of the Howard culture, figuring out how the school doesn’t necessarily give you money but instead get you money once you’ve already enrolled. Anyway no matter how you look at it life is on the up and up for Joshua Green.
