This week in biomed we are coming back from our Mardi Gras break so we spent a lot of time doing individual work. This week I spent a lot of time calling and trying to find other places to do job shadows, mostly to no avail. My calls, messages, and emails mostly resulted in non-responses. I did however file my job shadow information through The University of South Alabama so hopefully that leads to something. Also outside of class, I conducted my outreach project that will have its own separate blog.
In class this week we did a color-blind test. First, we watched a video about how different animals have different angles of sight and see colors in different ways. This let us learn about different types of color blindness and how they work. While taking the test I found out… I’m not color-blind in the slightest. I didn’t struggle on any of the tests and it all felt pretty second nature to me. The purpose of the color blind test is to try to show someone that they are color blind because you can go your entire life without realizing it. The main purpose of our learning about color blindness is so that we can help test the children on the elementary campus on their vision. We ended the week off watching the movie “Something the Lord made.”
