The basic plot of the movie "Gifted Hands" is that Dr. Ben Carson (a real person) needs to separate two twins that are conjoined cranially. Throughout the film we witness Carson growing up through his primary schooling years, college years, and finally when he becomes a neurosurgeon. In this true story during Ben's early life he struggles in school mainly because he can't see so he can't read efficiently so his mother ,who also can't read, get him the glasses he needs. Then young Ben becomes an academic over achiever despite facing racism. In college his grades continue to be impressive however he faces a hurtle with advancing his medical career which his later to be wife helped get over by giving him more belief in himself. He becomes the only black intern at the hospital he begins to work at. He gets a job at the hospital because he saves a mans life who if he didn't it would've ended his career. That gains him the respect of the people at the hospital. In his current life he was in a horrible mental state as his wife has a miscarriage however he turns this into his motivation to do further research into how to save the twins. They end up saving the twins by stopping their hearts for an hour so they could separate them without them bleeding out. They end up performing this miracle surgery by having 50 people in the room all with a different task and job. Overall it was a pretty enjoyable movie and I learned more about a person that I already knew a decent bit about.
