On January 19th Brandi Hardnish came in to explain to us how to use the school's ultrasound machine. Her portion of her talking was very short and sweet essentially she just graduated from Spring Hill College and immediately became a radiology tech which means having to work machines like ultrasounds. Ultrasounds use a small transducer probe to transmit sound waves into the body that echo back forming an image. This is one of the safer ways to see into the body which is why it is used during pregnancies. With our ultrasound machine, we looked at my thyroid where she asked me to swallow to see how my throat moves to let spit fall down, Cammie’s bladder, along with other’s body parts like their leg. The only uncomfortable part was that the gel to make sure there was no separation between the skin and the probe was kind of cold meanwhile, Cammie had other gripes with what wasn’t seen. Despite its name, the ultrasound also really didn't make a sound which was interesting to me. This was a nice chill day for the class.
