The wildcat Joslyn Upshaw gave us a presentation on medical air transport. This can be traced back to World War I when hot air balloons were used to help retreat, wounded soldiers. Now 3-4 members are on board to help keep a patient alive after a severe accident. These flights are basically airborne ambulances with a flight paramedic, nurse, and/or physician. Joslyn during her training was told to focus more on her instruments than the outside of the plane. To do so she was given goggles so she couldn’t see the outside, we did the same playing Mario Kart. We could only see the road, so it was really hard to drive around, but because of my superb Mario Kart skills, we came in first, I can ensure that no cheating was done in the process.
